Bad Sleep and the Power of Forgiveness
There's plenty of research to support what common sense would tell you: it's not good for your sleep - and your health - to carry around hatred, anger, blame, resentment, shame, guilt, and chronic disappointment. It is an essential part of your personal development to get rid of any negative emotions, feelings and thoughts.
7. Hatred and Sleep
In conducting studies on sleep and the causes of sleeplessness, it has been noted that one with a heart of hatred never sleeps as well as the one whose mind is at peace with himself and the world at large. The former has difficulty in going to sleep and when he does, he is tense and rests but little.
Solution: Hatred is a poison which works on both your mind and body. If you could realize the damage which is done by hating, you would know that you cannot afford to hate.
Remember! Hatred never harms the one hated. The hater is the one who pays the penalty.
And, does hatred keep one awake?
On one occasion a person did something toward me which literally "burned me up." I went to bed and for two or three hours kept myself awake just by dwelling on the action which brought about the hatred. After singing on this "hymn of hate" for a good portion of the night, I understood that I was harming no one but myself. I even asked myself the question: "Wouldn’t that fellow be glad if he knew he was keeping me awake?"
In other words, I was really allowing him to bestow more injury upon me. Knowing the futility of lying awake just hating I actually whispered a prayer asking that he be blessed and guided to do right by his fellow man. This act dissolved my hatred. I dropped off to restful sleep and woke up in the morning actually sympathizing with this man instead of hating him.

In his book The Science of Being Well, the author Wallace Wattles makes a powerful statement about the importance of letting go any resentment and resistance against what is:
"The person who is in conscious harmony with All will receive a continuous inflow of vital power from the Supreme Life, and this inflow is prevented by angry, selfish, or antagonistic mental attitudes. If you are against any part, you have severed relations with all - you will receive life, but only instinctively and automatically, not intelligently and purposefully."

It's clear that you can't be connected with the power that heals if you are "against any part" of the whole. That includes being against anyone else, yourself, your body, or parts of your body.
