In general, people will look at ourselves the same way as we do. Low self esteem sends out a certain vibrational pattern, which will be picked up by others. They will literally smell our fear and insecurity.
It is especially the perfectionist type of person, who is prone to low self esteem. This personality type hates himself or herself for being imperfect and committing mistakes. They cannot stand the fact that they, too, aren’t omnipotent and omniscient. They act under permanent stress, always anticipating the worst, while struggling hard to be perfect.
Improving your self esteem has nothing at all to do with striving for artificial perfection. Everybody in this material realm is affected by imperfection, i.e. is sure to commit mistakes, is subject to illusion, has the tendency to cheat others and is limited by imperfect senses. As long as we identify with our material bodies, we are subjugated to these limitations.

The best start is to simply accept yourself exactly the way you are.
You are a wonderful person, despite all your shortcomings. There is absolutely no use to strive for perfection on an imperfect platform. To really boost your self confidence you have to simply understand, who you really are. You are already perfect, although on a different level of existence. The struggle for material perfection is the perfect gate to imperfection and suffering.
Relax. Calm down. All is well. You are unlimitedly powerful. You are loved. You simply have to wake up to this fact. You don’t have to prove your perfection, neither to yourself nor to others. This is your natural heritage as a child of God. The only question is: When will you allow yourself to accept your real and eternal spiritual identity?
That is the sum and substance of all personal development. You have to simply realize that you are already a perfect, wonderful and loveable being. That should be your focus of struggle. Unlike futile material struggle this effort will bring forth wonderful results within a short time. You will feel different from the very beginning.
